NBA History Stats Till 2022

Here we are going to explain the NBA history records with you briefly.

After the game start getting popular in American Colleges, The American National Basketball Association
(NBA) established in 1946. The basketball became an integral part of American culture at the end of 20 th
century. At the time of basketball game invention, the rules and the basics of the game were totally
different. The first professional league of the basketball was founded in 1898, in the leagues six teams
took part. The first league of basketball was known as National Basketball League. The first international
basketball match was held in Saint Petersburg.

Basketball court has also change over the period of time along with other rules and regulation.

NBA History

You will be amazed to know that the first basketball was also manufactured by Ossie Schectman (person), who was a member of Knickerbockers. Before NBA, many professional attempts were made to play the games like NBL, BAA at such a large level. In the earlier time, the performance was not good. To cut a long story short, a person who was the finalist (Baltimore Bullets) went to BAA and became the winner of that league in 1948.

After all, in 1949, all other NBL teams were merged. According to the legal perspective, its name was then changed to the present name NBA (National Basketball Association). It then made 17 franchises that were located in big and small cities randomly. The purpose of franchises was to merge them. With improvements till 1954, the small cities were converted to large franchises.

All was running well until the 1980s when the franchises started money-losing, lack of attendance, dropdown to television ratings, and limited national appeal. After that, the leadership came in David Stern’s hand that transformed it into an entertainment company. It was then divided into 30 teams whose details are as follows:

Eastern Conference

  • Atlantic Division: Boston Celtics, Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors
  • Central Division: Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks
  • Southeast Division: Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Washington Wizards

Western Conference

  • Southwest Division: Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, San Antonio Spurs
  • Northwest Division: Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz
